Palliative Care

The window to suffering can be a window to peace and opportunity. You matter because you are you and you matter to the last moment of your life. We will do all we can to help you, not only to die peacefully but to live until you die.
~Cicely Saunders

Palliative care is comfort care. It is a hallmark of the Hospice philosophy. Palliative care seeks to relieve suffering whether physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual in nature.

Palliative care requires expertise in pain and comfort medications along with an approach of kindness and acceptance. the staff and volunteers of Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard offer palliative care with these skills. While our focus is caring for those with a life-limiting illness our services are also available to those with chronic pain.

  • Pain and symptom assessment
  • Medication recommendations with physician consultation
  • Non-pharmacological pain relief recommendations

Call Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard when someone you know is in pain and needs comfort.
