We are Dedicated to a Singular Mission:
To offer free, quality hospice and bereavement services to all who are facing serious illness, grief, and death. As a licensed organization we provide personalized care at home, the hospital or extended care facilities and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their families.
Our purpose is to provide compassionate, supportive care for those facing the end of life and to comfort their loved ones.
Our vision is to be a leader in end-of-life care.
Our Core Values:
Courage: We assist patients and their loved ones in finding the courage to make the most of each day as they approach the end of life.
Respect: We embrace the dignity of the whole individual, meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs with impartiality, discretion, and confidentiality.
Partnership: We make the patient and their family our partners whose wishes guide us in building a team with the family physician, clergy, home-care and other health practitioners, for the best end of life care.
Service: We provide caring, compassionate service whether at home, hospital, or other care facility via our specially-trained and knowledgeable hospice nurses, bereavement counselors, and volunteers.
Stewardship: We raise money and utilize our resources to fully fund our professional services and operations at no cost to our patients and their families.
Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard Services:
- Support for the best quality of life
- Assistance in understanding medical options
- Comprehensive, supportive nursing care
- Coordination of medical, social and spiritual services, whether provided on or off the Island
- Bereavement and spiritual care and counseling for emotional comfort
We provide all care free of charge and without insurance reimbursement. This guiding principle has empowered us to serve anyone in need with a life-limiting illness, regardless of treatment choices or prognosis. Since we offer our services without insurance involvement, we are not required to comply with any waiting period following a diagnosis.
We practice a continuum approach. With Hospice, your needs may change. They may increase dramatically or decrease. Hospice is responsive to changes and works to ensure we provide a full spectrum of care as the needs of you or a loved one changes, throughout the journey.
Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard is supported and sustained by our community. Every time we provide assistance, we are honoring the generosity of our benefactors and supporters. We are dependent on fundraising efforts and donations to support the work of Hospice. We are grateful to our friends and neighbors for their ongoing generosity. If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution, please donate online or via postal mail today.
