Bud Lamoreaux Memorial
Hospice Golf Classic

In 2011, Bud Lamoreaux, a former HPCMV Board member and devoted supporter of our mission, founded what has become a beloved Island tradition. The tournament continues in Bud’s memory, honoring his lasting legacy of leadership, dedication, and commitment to compassionate care on Martha’s Vineyard. Each year, the Hospice golf classic brings players together for a day of fun, friendly competition, and community spirit to support hospice, palliative, and bereavement care on-Island. Held at Mink Meadows Golf Club, the event features morning and afternoon rounds of golf, a delectable homemade luncheon, an online auction, and a prize drawing.

Thank you to all who supported our 16th Annual Hospice Golf Tournament on Sept. 20, 2026!

2027 Tournament Date: TBD

Sixteen years later, Bud Lamoreaux’s “little golf tournament” is still bringing people together for Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha’s Vineyard, and raising support beyond what we once thought possible, just the kind of outcome Bud was always convinced we could accomplish! The 16th Bud Lamoreaux Memorial Hospice Golf Classic was another incredible chapter in that story. This year, 85 golfers filled both our morning and afternoon rounds, helping us reach a new fundraising milestone! With our online auction now open until September 30th at noon, there is still room for us to continue raising that number!

Despite the rain, our community still showed up in support of HPCMV! We were honored to hear from Sue Lamoreaux, and from Polly Brown of Navigator Homes, one of our presenting sponsors and an HPCMV Board Emeritus.

This year’s winners were Pascal Bitoun, Tom Corr, Mike Peters, Tom Becker, and Alfred Alley, who shot 13 under par!

That community spirit is what makes this tournament so special. Year after year, friends return, new golfers join us, and our Island comes together to support Hospice. So many people tell us this is their favorite charity golf tournament on Martha’s Vineyard, and you can feel the camaraderie from the moment you arrive.

We are especially grateful to the Golf Committee and some of Bud’s oldest friends for carrying on his legacy: Michael Cunniff, Michael Shalett, Scott Burnside, Barbara Phillips, Michael Rasmussen, Meg and John Verret.  A huge shoutout to Barb’s amazing team of volunteers who kept our golfers fed: Carol Bardwell, Jayne DeBettencourt, Patti Linn, Enid McEvoy, Darleyne Smith, Jean Tattlebaum, and Sue Trani.

A tremendous thank you also goes to our staff, volunteers, golfers, sponsors, donors, and the wonderful team at Mink Meadows, including Mike, Carter, Christian, Bruce, Ellen, Will, and Don. From setting up to serving lunch, working the bar, and organizing, so many people made the day a success.

We are incredibly grateful to Scotts Miracle-Gro and Navigator Homes, our presenting sponsors, and to all of our tee sponsors. See below for the full list of our generous sponsors and donors. We encourage players and supporters to patronize these businesses — when you support them, you continue to support our cause.

We extend our deep gratitude to Cronig’s Market for hosting our “Chance to Win” prize drawing fundraiser in support of the golf tournament throughout August and September! And to everyone who bought a ticket, placed an auction bid, sponsored a hole, played a round, volunteered, or simply showed up for Hospice: thank you. You made the 16th year of this tournament one Bud would be proud of. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
