We have some happy news to share! JessAnna Watts, Hospice RN Case Manager at Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha’s Vineyard, has earned her Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) credential.
The CHPN is a national board certification for registered nurses who specialize in caring for people facing serious illness and the end of life. Earning it means passing a rigorous exam that covers everything from pain and symptom management to supporting families through some of the hardest days of their lives. It’s a significant commitment of time and study, on top of the demanding work JessAnna already does every day.
JessAnna has been a nurse since 2006, with experience spanning pediatrics, internal medicine, complex chronic illness, and oncology, where she spent most of her career. She came to hospice because she felt called to “close the loop” for patients moving out of treatment, making sure they have dignity and support at the end of life. This certification makes it official: she is an expert at exactly that.
For the families we serve, this matters. It means the nurse walking through your door has proven, specialized expertise in the kind of care your loved one needs. It’s one more way we keep our promise to provide the highest quality hospice and palliative care to everyone on the Island, at no charge.
Please join us in congratulating JessAnna. If you see her around the Island, give her a high five. She earned it.
