We are proud to launch a new educational video designed to help Island residents better understand hospice and palliative care, dispel common misconceptions, and encourage people to seek information and support at any stage of serious illness. The video was created by Circuit Films, the documentary production company of Circuit Arts. Play the video above or watch on the home page of our new website!

Thank you to Ray Whitaker for featuring an interview about our new video in the June 28 episode of the Vineyard Current on MVY Radio. Listen here, and skip ahead to 22:00 to hear Meghan Saggese speak with Ray about the video launch.

Caring Conversations:

Symptom and Pain Management at HPCMV

One of the most important goals of our team at Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha’s Vineyard (HPCMV) is helping patients remain as comfortable as possible. Pain is just one of many symptoms that we can help address. If you are a hospice or palliative patient, you may also experience symptoms like shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, or restlessness. Our nurses work closely with patients, families, and physicians to develop a personalized care plan that addresses each person’s unique needs and goals.

HPCMV Community Connections

Our Staff Attended a De-escalation Training with Tara Simmons from CONNECT to End Violence

HPCMV staff recently participated in a de-escalation training led by Tara Simmons, Lead Court Advocate with Martha’s Vineyard Community Services’ CONNECT to End Violence program. The session provided practical techniques for responding to emotionally charged situations with empathy, confidence, and calm—skills that support our team’s work with patients and families every day. We are grateful to Tara and the CONNECT team for sharing their expertise and for the invaluable services they provide to our Island community.

June marked the culmination of a seven-year effort to bring person-centered, Island-based senior care to the Vineyard, replacing the former Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. HPCMV is proud to partner in providing compassionate hospice and palliative care to residents at this beautiful new facility, helping ensure that Island residents can age, heal, and be cared for close to home.
